Highest Large-scale Energy Storage Project in the World

From: Haohao (Lucie) YI – China Shoto Deputy Chief Engineer - Energy Storage BU

9 December 2017, supported by Tibet Grid, the Yangyi power plant with 30MW PV + 20MWh energy storage has been successfully connected to the grid. This project is invested by North Control New Energy Ltd, EPC by China Shoto Group and Lixin Ltd. The energy storage system shows a stable power output and is working in harmony with the PV system. The electricity quality is above-standard.

This project is located in Yangyi, Tibet, at 4700m above sea-level. It is the highest large-scale energy storage project in the world. It is also the largest grid-tied commercial ESS in China.

This energy storage system aims to control the power generated by PV and to stabilize fluctuation of grid frequency and voltage. The expected lifetime is 10 years.

China Shoto Group shows its unique ability in energy storage by supplying 16 all-in-one 40 ft ESS containers, which contains 9600 pcs of Shoto’s long life lead-carbon batteries (LLC-1000) in total.

LLC lead-carbon battery is an innovative battery designed and manufactured by China Shoto Group. It not only shows extremely long cycle life time, excellent reliability and performance price ratio, but also the better stability at low temperature. Last but not least, lead-carbon battery is easy to recycle and Shoto Group could provide the solution.
